PFT PRESIDENT JERRY T. JORDAN ON ONGOING SCOURGE OF GUN VIOLENCE

March 6, 2024

This week, we have seen so much senseless violence, and the impact it has on our young people and our entire city is immeasurable. Just this week, we have seen three fatal shootings on or near Septa busses, including the Monday shooting death of high-school student 17-year-old Dayemen Taylor who was leaving school.

And now this afternoon, eight young people were shot, including several children, while at a bus stop. I am praying for each of them, for their families, and for everyone impacted by this horror. Our collective hearts break.

Our young people deserve so much more. They deserve so much better. The scourge of gun violence must end. We need common-sense gun reform, and we need true investment in our communities.
