Jerry Jordan testified before City Council on Wednesday in opposition to the SRC plan to close, charter and privatize public education across the city.
"I urge you to send the School Reform Commission and their blueprint back to the drawing board. It isn't right for education, for children and families, for neighborhoods or for Philadelphia as a whole," Jordan said. "Successful reforms are research-based, carefully planned, data-driven and student focused. The SRC plan isn't about education."
"Of all the experiments that have been visited upon the city's children over the past 12 years, this is the most cynical and destructive," he said. He urge council members to call on the district to stop experimenting on Philadelphia's children.
